On July 2nd, 2014, David Post, beloved teacher and coach, sadly, lost his battle to cancer, and passed.

David Post, former Bishop Lynch High School teacher, founder, and coach of their mock trial team, will forever be remembered for his passion and dedication to mock trial.

Mr. Post was an innovative force, not only at Bishop Lynch, but at the Empire Mock Trial Invitational as well. It is because of his coaching and encouragement that the Bishop Lynch Mock Trial Team became a recognizable force of Empire Mock Trial. He, in all his years as an educator, never failed to inspire and lift his students towards greatness.

It is because of his love and commitment towards his team that Mr. Post has an award, within the Empire Mock Trial Invitational, named after him. This award celebrates his name by representing the spirit of mock trial; and is given to the team that most exudes teamwork, passion, sportsmanship, and an ability to strive for excellence.

While living most of his life in Texas, David was a world traveler and explorer with a penchant for art, architecture and politics. He spent twenty years instilling these passions among his students at Bishop Lynch High School. While teaching Government and Mock Trial, he challenged his students to think critically and independently. To friends and family, he was a source of humor and wisdom.

It is because of all of this and more that the Bishop Lynch Mock Trial team has come together to organize the David Post tournament. This tournament is held in memory and honor of Mr. Post and demands a love of mock trial, a powerful sense of teamwork, honesty, and humility.
